Unemployment in Kosovo had made that agriculture to be main branch of Kosovo economy, especially in rural zone which represent 60% of the population. Barley is a plant which in Europe has an important place in the structure of cultivated plant. Barley is mainly used for beer production. Currently in Europe it has an important place in the structure of cultivated plant. Its composition serves for curing many diseases or healthy disorders, however main use of barley is for the beer malt production. In barley grain quality for the production of beer malt important part is small content of protein high content of starch and amylases, enzymes which check starch dissolving especially starch compose. Protein and starch content in barley grain are genetic characteristics, influenced also from environment conditions.
