Having completed a fellowship at the Mayo Clinic, Des returned to his alma mater to take up his current position in 2006. He has published over 400 peer-reviewed papers, book chapters, and books and has been involved in journal publishing for 15 years. Des succeeds E. Hey Groves, Cecil Wakeley, H. H. G.
