The malaria parasites also cleared faster in children that received halofantrine when compared with chloroquine-chlorpheniramine group within 8 days.However there was no significant difference between chloroquine-chlorpheniramine and halofantrine groups in both symptoms and parasite clearance at 14th day. Halofantrine group had intravascular haemolysis and abdominal pain with or without vomiting while chloroquine-chlorpheniramine group had pruritus as major side effects.
