Aggregation in colloidal suspensions depends on Brownian motion which exists between colloidal particles constantly in collision. The DLVO theory is a cornerstone in the analysis of aggregation of particles it is the foundation in understanding stability (on which aggregate formation is dependent) in colloidal dispersions. Electrostatic double layer forces and van der Waals forces are the major interacting forces that influence the formation of aggregates. In this project the factors that are considered to influence aggregate formation in colloidal dispersions among which are pH, salt concentration, particle size distribution and viscosity. The influence of these factors mentioned is investigated in this book. I hope the knowledge shared is beneficial in understanding interfacial forces.
