Autorenporträt

Alan Davies has been interested in mining all his life, gaining his mining qualifications at St Helens College. He has worked at Parkside Colliery, Newton, Coventry Colliery, Bickershaw Colliery, Leigh and Castle Mine, Wigan and written numerous books on collieries and the mining industry. He was a Curator at the Lancashire Mining Museum, Salford from 1985 until its closure in 2000. He qualified as an archivist at Liverpool University in 2003, and was in charge of the Wigan Archives from 2001 until 2007. Since then he has been cataloguing collections at the Manchester Art College and the Halle Orchestra as well pursuing his writing career. Alan lives in Manchester.
