Hydroxyapatite [Ca10(PO4)6(OH)2, HA] is used in many biomedical applications including and joint or total replacements & bone substitute. Due to its structural and chemical similarities to human bone mineral, it is excellent material for bone and teeth. HA enhances growth of bone tissue. HA proves to be highly bioactive and biocompatible but its usage is limited to non- load bearing application because of its poor mechanical properties (fatigue properties). Dr. Manoj Mittal is Assistant Professor in Department of Mechanical Engineering at IKG Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar. He did PhD from Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, Roorkee.He has many research publications in Journals of International repute. He is teaching UG and PG engineering students since 1997 and is involved in research.
