This book begins by highlighting promotion of coffee among the natives in in Kagera region (the then Bukoba District and West Lake region). The book documents the interlocking forces and policies linked to marketing of coffee that undermined the growth of coffee marketing co-operatives. Post WWII addressed the challenges that led to promotion and registration of co-operatives which were briefly supported by post-colonial government before abolition in 1976 and reinstatement in 1982
