The choice of this study was based on the observation that young students in schools have an excessive craze for gambling, a practice that is in vogue in the majority of cities in our country. The fact lies in this that these young people strongly believe in false ideas (cognitive distortions) according to which making a maximum amount of money easily after a bet is very obvious. The main objective of this work is to highlight the link that exists between cognitive distortions and the practice of gambling among young students. A study using a self-administered questionnaire was used to collect the data. SPSS 20 software allowed us to analyze the data. The Pearson correlational descriptive test was carried out to analyze the data from 112 students at the Nkolbikon Technical High School. Our results show that: the illusion of control is positively linked to the practice of games of chance and money (JHA) among young students, with a correlation coefficient of r = 0.37 and p = 0.01.
