The present book describes the experimental setup for producing gaseous (N2, O2, H2, etc.) cold plasma and its application to modify the materials, particularly fiber materials. The setup was indigenously designed at the Institute of Physics(IOP), Bhubaneswar, India. The present setup is used for the modification of surfaces of various materials. It consists of different parts with different functions. A pure N2 gas cylinder was attached with a control valve to regulate gas inflow (0.2lpm). The vacuum of the camber was obtained in the order of 2×10-5 bar using a pumping system combination of a rotary and a turbo molecular pump. A high-voltage RF power supply of about 1kV was given to the electrodes inside the vacuum chamber using a High-Voltage power supply unit (voltage ranges 0-5 kV; Output current ranges 0-100 miA Frequency ranges 10 MHz). Polymeric fibers and any solid surface can be modified using the presently designed cold plasma setup materials viz. metals(Cu, Au, Ag, etc.).
