This book constitutes the proceedings of the 18th Collaboration Researchers' International Working Group Conference on Collaboration and Technology, held in Raesfeld, Germany, in September 2012.The 9 revised papers presented together with 12 short papers were carefully reviewed and selected from numerous submissions. They are grouped into five themes that represent collaborative learning, social media analytics, conceptual and design models, formal modeling and technical approaches and collaboration support in emergency scenarios.

Marc Jansen arbeitet als Anwendungsentwickler und Projektleiter bei der terrestris GmbH & Co. KG. Der Diplom-Geograph hat Geographie, Geologie und Städtebau studiert. Bereits im Studium - und vertiefend auch in der Abschlussarbeit - befasste er sich mit Geographischen Informationssystemen und den Potenzialen, die sich für verschiedenste Fragestellungen aus der Anwendung dieser Systeme ergeben können. Seit 2005 entwickelt Marc Jansen WebGIS-Applikationen mit verschiedensten OpenSource-Komponenten. Neben seiner Tätigkeit als Anwendungsentwickler führt er Schulungen zu allen Bereichen seiner bevorzugten OpenSource-Software-Komponenten durch: OpenLayers, MapFish, PostgreSQL/PostGIS, GeoServer, UMN Mapserver. Daneben leitet er Grundlagenschulungen zur Einführung in die Verwendung (und das Zusammenspiel) von HTML, JavaScript, PHP, CSS und SQL. Auf Konferenzen wie der FOSSGIS und der internationalen FOSS4G hält er Vorträge und Workshops.
