In India there are 16500 affiliated colleges to cater higher education. These institutions are suffering from crisis of funds to procure even minimum documents & infrastructure. The situation of college libraries is precarious mainly in rural India/West Bengal. As a result, College library is under deletion and going to lose its existence. The gap in between expectation of college library users and the real existence of the library is ever increasing in nature. The present study is an attempt to identify the over all condition of the college libraries of the Birbhum District in the light of the present e-society. However, the study had tried to depicts the reality of the college libraries and noted some findings and suggestion for further developments. If my work acts as a helpful document to concerned person(s) and authority then only it seems to me a successful one. Major findings of the study are as; Fund crisis, lacks of minimum infrastructure including ICTs, shortage of staff, lack of scope of skill and competency of the library staff, lack of proper interest of the college authority, note-base selected education system, etc.
