After the war the family eventually settled as refugees from religious persecution in Australia where Stacy, by nature hardworking and diligent, started a family with her Bosnian husband, achieved professional success and for the first time found love, only for tragedy to strike again. Trapped in a loveless marriage and afflicted by ongoing family strife, Stacy succumbed to a crippling mental illness.

Stacy Nicholson is a poet, novelist, and humanitarian. Born to hardworking farmers in a remote village in Bosnia, a former Yugoslavian Republic, Nicholson moved to Australia in 2002 as a war refugee. There she obtained a degree in Library Information Services and went on to build a successful career in Library Services, working at some of the most renowned libraries in Victoria.Nicholson first became known for her romantic poetry with the book Stay With Me, but it did not take long for her writing in other genres to become equally popular and loved. In general, her writing has been described as reflections of on universal human experiences, feelings that describe from the full range of human emotions, from awe to wonder and tenderness, from agony to ecstasy.
