There are bugs and beetles, fortune tellers and dreams, which intrigue adults as much as they intrigue kids used as props to make the stories interesting. I immensely enjoyed writing these stories, hope you enjoy reading them and soaking into their juices, their fairy world. I wanted to name the book, Fairy tales for adults but I call it shadows in the mirror because the images they create are like shadow work, giving themselves away and yet holding themselves back The second section has stories of culture gone awry and is titled CULTURE OF DELUSIONS. Culture is a way of life and is built around the seasons, climate and the geographic landscape of a place. Its roots are deep, and impact is significant on the minds of the people. People dress, eat, live, sing, dance or celebrate according to the climatic conditions prevalent in that country. It makes our lives easier and embellished with eloquent rituals which speak of the common sentiment of the group. Culture is a thing of beauty but as centuries pass and life changes due to new advances in science, culture too needs to adapt afresh. It is often seen that the cultural norms do not seem to keep pace with the intellectual advances as it has more to do with the emotions of the populations. It so happens that then these cultural norms sometimes take the form of unchangeable mass delusions. These stories are about this orthodox mindset which lags behind and takes the form of pathology on a mass scale. Hope you enjoy them, and they make you think about this aspect of life. The third section has stories from day-to-day life and is titled CUT AND DRY. Daily mundane life is rife with stories, you just need to see them.
