If you could talk one last time to someone you've lost forever, what would you say? In front of Kotoko, steam rises from the bowls full of rice and miso soup on the table. He took the train from Tokyo to reach Chibineko Kitchen, a seaside restaurant in Chiba Prefecture. Still shocked by the sudden death of her brother, the young woman has heard that the food served there can work a small miracle: reunite her for the last time with a deceased loved one. Not daring to believe it could be true, she sits down before the kagezen, the memorial meal in honor of the deceased, and takes a bite. At that moment, the clock stops, the seagulls stop squawking and the air becomes thick... But Kotoko is not the only one who has gone to the restaurant: there she meets a small primary school student, an elderly farmer and the young chef of the restaurant, each one of them, distressed and searching for answers. A beautiful collection of heartbreaking and tender stories about coming to terms with loss and finding what matters most in life; stories that will leave you unable to contain tears of emotion.
