Coming to the Edge offers two possibilities of interpretation: At times, when we are in a difficult place, we often feel we've come to the edge of our endurance. What remains before us is the darkness of the void. We can choose to stay at that awful edge or to move on to paths that are life-giving and supportive. Coming to the Edge offers two possibilities of interpretation: At times, when we are in a difficult place, we often feel we've come to the edge of our endurance. What remains before us is the darkness of the void. We can choose to stay at that awful edge or to move on to paths that are life-giving and supportive. Many of these poems speak of being in that place. They also speak of resilience and trust that solutions will show themselves as we choose to move on. In other circumstances, when life is going well and we've worked through our pain and struggle, we move confidently forward bathed in the light of understanding, support, love and friendship. Our hearts become full and our joy, like the waters in a rain-fed river, flows over the edge into new streams of possibility. I wrote Coming to the Edge with the intention of sharing my difficult but transformational journey. My hope is that my poems will be a springboard for your own thoughts and expression; a tool to discover your own answers and your own truth. The poems are divided into three sections-Struggle, Transformation and Dance. Life and growth are not linear, so at different times we are living different aspects of the journey. Through struggle and transformative experiences, we grow and move toward a goal of interior and exterior freedom which I call Dance. After each poem there is a prompt or two for your own writing, drawing or doodling. There is an affirmation with each poem to carry through the day and nurture your personal growth.

Autorenporträt
Writing poetry has been a constant in Helen's life. It is where she first found a voice. As a young nun, her poems became songs, and she published three albums. She has also written essays and reflections for the local paper, always finding inspiration in the world around her and in the simplest things, like hummingbirds at the feeder. Helen has her bachelor's and master's degrees in Theological Studies. She was a nun for thirty years and is now an ordained Interfaith Minister. (That journey is a story for another time.) She is a trained spiritual director to help people's faith journeys, no matter their beliefs. She also is certified in the Amherst Writers and Artists method to lead writing groups. Her hobby is carving block prints and designing tea towels. She can be reached at www.helenrousseau.com
