This book demonstrates the extent of the impact of commercial buses on the economy of Kano Metropolis from 1967 2003. This becomes necessary as this study aims at uncovering how the commercial buss transport system served as a major means for the movement of goods, services in Kano during the period of study. The transitions from traditional means of transport using human portage and animals to the advent of modern means of transport with the use of vehicles, which culminated to rapid economic growth are examined. It was established in the research work that the increased economic growth, production and commercial activities, which Kano witnessed, was based on its location as the largest city in the Savannah belt of Africa South of the Sahara. Thus, the introduction of commercial buses in the 1960's had stimulated increased commercial contact in Metropolitan Kano, which had hitherto sporadic contact with each other. The study also examined various modes of transportation system during the pre-colonial, colonial and postcolonial periods in Kano.
