This book interrogates the dimensions of urban violence in sub Saharan Africa with specific focus on Ado-Ekiti in Nigeria. This book interrogates these issues in five chapters. Chapter one provides the background information concerning the subject. The second chapter presents the theoretical framework and also the review of selected and relevant literature. Third chapter showcases some of the instances of violent outings perpetrated by commercisl vehicle drivers in Ado-Ekiti, Nigeria. Chapter four provides the analysis ofthe findings from fieldwork, while chapter five contains the summary, conclusion and recommendations. This book provides explanations to the new war thesis as argued by Mary Kaldor.

Akeem Bello é licenciada em Hausa/Mass Comm. pela Universidade de Bayero, Kano, Nigéria. O seu Mestrado em Estudos de Paz e Segurança pela Universidade Estatal de Ekiti, Nigéria; e, está a realizar o seu Doutoramento em Investigação em Segurança do Património na mesma Universidade. A sua bolsa de estudo está centrada na Violência Urbana, Governação e Conflito, Insurgência e Segurança do Património.
