Dr Angela Feekery designs and coordinates a large fi rst-year communication course as a lecturer in the School of Communication, Journalism and Marketing at Massey University, New Zealand. Angela has a varied teaching background that includes communication, academic writing, science and business communication, and public relations. Her teaching excellence has been recognised through the Massey Business School teaching award 2020 and the Vice Chancellor's Teaching Award in 2021. She also became a Senior Fellow in the Higher Education Academy in 2021. Her commitment to quality teaching centres on socio-constructive learner-focused pedagogy, which sees learning as a partnership between teachers and students. She is passionate about supporting students to become capable communicators and discerning, ethical users of information. Angela's research interests centre on communication, and information and digital literacies in academic and professional contexts. Engagement with these competencies is the foundation for student success in learning how to learn, developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills, engaging in informed decision-making and ethical research practices, and communicating ideas effectively.
