We collected 51 cases of community-acquired purulent meningitis. The mean age of the patients was 41 years. Nearly half the patients (49%, 25 patients) were between 25 and 49 years of age, with a predominance of males. At least one pathological history was noted in 69% of patients. Fever was the main symptom in 98% of patients. Cerebrospinal fluid culture was positive in 32% of cases, and the germ most frequently isolated was S.pneumoniae. The mortality rate was 8%.
