This volume, Community social work. The role of the church in the development of social work services, presents the involvement of the church in community social assistance from a double perspective, theological and sociological, without claiming to exhaust this subject. What am I looking for in this book? In addition to presenting the history of the church's involvement in social work, to clarify the terms used in this activity, to restore the specific identity of each term and put it back in its proper place in current speech, to provide an opportunity for a comparative analysis of to the different systems of social assistance of the churches and last but not least, to come to the support of finding an identity and a deserved place for the social assistance of the church in the society.Approaching social services in religious communities is quite difficult in some respects. First, religious communities are coagulated around spiritual principles and spiritual powers that are difficult to expose and explain by any human logic. Sociology, on the other hand, seeks to provide logical explanations for social phenomena and facts.
