Compacts for Equality: Towards a Sustainable Future is presented by ECLAC to the States members at the thirty-fifth session of the Commission (Lima, 5 - 9 May 2014). In this third volume, the aim of equality dovetails with development that is more economically, socially and environmentally sustainable in the medium and long terms in Latin America and the Caribbean. This new proposal firmly embraces the gender perspective, natural resource governance and the dynamics of labour and consumption, and advocates medium- and long-term social covenants, engaging a broad range of actors in the exercise of citizenship, as a condition for successful development.
