We shall discuss silences in the treatment of the themes and how they gesture to gender relationship. This is particularly because Ngugi wa Thiong o and Alice Walker have addressed a number of common themes in their works such as colonialism in Africa, the theme of female circumcision, family and woman. We explore silences in their works which reveal suggestive gender messages despite the authors intentions. Lastly, we shall discuss the changing trends and visions in the writers understudy.
