Credit and capital in general are factors of production and drivers of socio-economic development. The banking system is essential in any economy that wants to be modern. Burundian banks, whether small or large, use different management methods that allow them to hedge against risky portfolios and to improve their performance at different levels. Prudence advises the banker to limit and divide the risks by distributing the credits to the different beneficiaries. On the other hand, the more the credits are distributed among a large number of beneficiaries, the lower the probability of non-repayment.The conditions imposed by the banks, notably the required guarantees and the high discount rate, do not favor women who do not hold property titles. Our research shows that women's delinquencies are lower than those of men.Our thanks to the Director of this research work, Dr. Marc ABOU NABBA, to the agents and clients of the Commercial Bank of Burundi and to my entire family.
