But, there is a great difference in between the expectation of the library clientele and the current position of the college libraries. The authors have the opportunity to start their professional career from the college library. There is some dissimilarity between the colleges of rural areas and urban areas. Apart from this, the college libraries are suffering from lot of problems, e.g improper infrastructure including modern technologies, insufficient number of staff, lack of proper scope of up-gradation and concrete status of the library professionals, lack of consistent collection policies, etc. Keeping the above noted fact in mind, the present study is an attempt to explore the status of the college library in terms of digital age. The study has also tried to identify the basic problems faced by the college libraries and provided some suggestions on the basis of the problems traced.
