The morphological characters and chemical compounds present in pollens of three different species from same genus Canna genus; Canna x generalis, Canna compacta, Canna flaccida. This study was done to observe the variations among the three Canna species. Each species showed difference in all aspects as they differ in size, diameter, aperture etc., Also different groups of compounds were identified from each plant sample. With the morphological characters of pollen the monocot members can be easily identified. All three species of pollens consists of more alkanes, few fatty acids and other organic compounds. The same protocol for acid treatment of pollen can be used to study the ultrastructure of pollens like polarity, sculpture, intine, sexine and ornamentations under different fields. Having the preliminary screening as base activity; antioxidant, antibacterial, DPHH radical scavenging activity and oxygen radical scavenging absorbance activity can be carried out.
