The present prospective pilot study was carried out on 30 patients diagnosed with oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) requiring cancer resection and reconstruction with PMMC flap in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Sharad Pawar Dental College and Hospital and Acharya Vinoba Bhave Rural Hospital Sawangi (Meghe), Wardha from Oct 2019 to April 2020. This study was conducted in accordance with the 1964 Helsinki declaration and its later amendments or comparable ethical standards and after approval by the Institutional Ethical Committee of Datta Meghe Institute of Medical Sciences, Sawangi (M) Wardha, Maharashtra (Ref No. DMIMS (DU)/IEC/Dec-2019/8607)Group A (n= 10): PMMC flap closed with Vertical Mattress suturing technique.Group B (n= 10): PMMC flap closed with Simple Interrupted suturing technique.Group C (n= 10): PMMC flap closed with Figure of 8 suturing technique.Parameters assessed were - Time required for closure of intraoral defect with PMMC flap, post operative complications like gaping and necrosis of the flap under the suture.
