Blood samples were collected from pregnant women at the Maternity and Childhood hospitals in Basrah province for the period from August to December 2017. The level of sex hormones and other hormones affecting the determination of the type of labor (oxytocin, prolactin, estrogen, progesterone and leptin) were measured, as well as the hematological profile, electrolytes and social-demographic of all samples were analyzed in order to find out the relationship between the levels of these studied standards with age and body mass index and study the impact of these criteria in determining the type of labor in being natural, induced labor or caesarean section.
