As a result of the concern about the perceptions that exist with respect to sex toys, a comparison is developed between the imaginaries of university students aged between 17-24 years and 40-47 years of age at the University of Costa Rica. The aim is to find out the different ways in which students conceptualise the use of these objects. The research presents different postulates that justify their use in terms of eroticism, pleasure, therapeutic use and, finally, purchasing power.
