The overall aim of this book was to identify movement differences between term and preterm babies as an initial step towards identifying the degree of neurological insult and subsequent recovery. Two term and two preterm babies were videotaped for 210 minutes. The frequency and the quality movements were profiled during various periods of physiological stress in the NICU using Laban Movement Analysis(LBA). Any variation in the movement patterns during physiological stresses were noted. The differences in movements seen in term and preterm babies can be used to identify typical and atypical movements patterns aiding to early identification of movement disorders.
