Organizational performance measurement is an ongoing topic. For decades the interest in tracking organizational performance has existed. The traditional view of how to capture performance is based on financial measures. As business environment changed and the world and the organizations got more and more complex, academics recognized that financial measures alone do not build a rich picture and therefore, on their own, are not sufficient to evaluate performance. A lot of models emerged out of the awareness that balanced performance measurement systems (PMS), which are linked to strategy, are needed. This book will explore the problems of SMEs by conducting a case study which is located in the SME segment. The studied company is a very small one with less than 10 stable employees and organizes action sport events in the winter season. To get insight in the topic of issues SME face and which can be solved via a PMS the existing literature concerning this will be examined.
