Seit 1998 ist er Professor für Baumechanik und NumerischeMechanik sowieDirektor des Zentrums für Computational Engineering Sciences an der Universität Hannover. Er ist Mitherausgeber von internationalen Journals und Editor-in-Chief der Zeitschrift Computational Mechanics .
