The study of the phenomenon of activity as a synonymic structural formation reflecting the features of the Russian and English language pictures of the world is based on a comprehensive functional-semantic and structural-semantic analysis of verbal synonyms in Russian and English. Synonymy, as one of the varieties of language systematicity, is studied from within, it is viewed as a means that creates a new systematicity at the semantic level. This approach allows us to go beyond a single scientific paradigm and, using methods characteristic of the study of linguistic picture of the world, present the concept of "activity" as a conceptosphere in sufficient completeness. The conducted research of semantic groupings of synonymic verb rows with meaning "Physical Activity" and "Intellectual Activity", representing the corresponding fragments of the Russian and English language world pictures, enables one to see some specific cultural differences between the nations and find the "storage place" of national cultural information. The work is addressed to all those who are interested in the problems of linguoculturology.
