Darrin Lowery, a Chicago native, grew up in the crime-ridden Englewood community, on the South Side. For the past seventeen years, Lowery has worked in the helping professions, spending eleven years with one agency as a social worker and many years at another, where he worked in an emergency shelter. He holds degrees in behavioral science and counseling from National Louis University in downtown Chicago. He currently resides in Chicago and is working on his next novel.
