According to GSMA real-time intelligence data, there were over 12 billion mobile connections globally as of Oct 2024-exceeding the world population, estimated at 8.25 billion by UN digital analysts. This higher number of connections is due to many users owning multiple devices or using dual SIMs, as well as connections integrated into other devices, such as cars.
