Too often we seek distraction from the painful and uncomfortable thoughts, feelings and situations in our lives, choosing to drown ourselves in a substance or numb ourselves with mindless activity. Too often we seek distraction from the painful and uncomfortable thoughts, feelings and situations in our lives, choosing to drown ourselves in a substance or numb ourselves with mindless activity. Distraction strategies don't solve the problem. They only defer arriving at a solution. Real change begins with awareness, deepens with analysis, solidifies with acceptance and transforms with constructive action. This book is intended to begin that first phase of change . . . planting seeds of awareness. Read the poems, reflect on them as you colour. Read the reflection questions. Answer them and ponder them as you colour. Deepen your awareness of your inner landscape. Begin the process of change. And then be the change.
Autorenporträt
Gina Miranda is a Registered Psychotherapist specialising in Complex Trauma, Personality Disorders, Anxiety and Depression. She has been in private practise for over 7 years, worked as a teacher instructing students in Psychotherapy, and acts as a peer supervisor for fellow Psychotherapists. Gina is the co-founder of Healing Therapy Alliance in Toronto, Canada, a network of mental health and wellness practitioners who value a collaborative, team-based approach to healing. She obtained her BA in Fine Arts from the University of Toronto, and her Diploma in Transpersonal Psychotherapy at the Transformational Arts College. She continued her education with the Sensorimotor Psychotherapy Institute, completing her Level 1 and Level 2 training and her EMDR and Structural Dissociation training with EMDRIA. Her course of study is a direct reflection of her passions for art and mental health and wellness, self-exploration and self-expansion. To that end, she has allowed her dual mastery to intersect by developing this tool designed to help deepen self-awareness while coping with the symptoms of anxiety and depression. The book, Conscious Colouring, comprises a collection of 25 poems written by Gina that stem from her own life experience and self-reflection, 25 questions that encourage self-reflection, and 50 drawings to work on while reflecting on the poems, the questions, or your own life circumstances.
