The purpose of this quantitative descriptive analysis and synthesis was to review how consciousness emerges in the world given current ontological knowledge of the phenomenon in physics, humanities, and the social sciences. Quantitative descriptive analysis studies provide systematic information about a phenomenon to formulate a hypothesis. This systematic review analyzes and synthesizes the literature on how consciousness emerges in the world published in peer-reviewed English-language journals between 2005 and 2023 to provide insight into how this topic has been theorized and approached. The goal was to examine how this literature characterizes the development of consciousness in human beings to better understand the conceptual relationships underpinning previous studies, and advance work on the nature and origins of consciousness and its relationship to the development of a new psychological theory, i.e., antihuman psychology, related to the origins and nature of the phenomenon
