Compulsory military service exists in many countries. The purpose of this service is to prepare citizens for the defense of their homeland, the overall development of the country and the spread of peace in the world. It is synonymous with strengthening the integrity of the country, consolidating the development of the country and equality among citizens. Psychological adjustment is an essential component in achieving the objectives of national service, which makes many psychiatric disorders incompatible with armed service. A better understanding of the psychiatric causes of unfitness for military service would allow the development of standardized procedures for psychological and psychiatric evaluation of young conscripts.
