Salvatore D'Agostino has taught Structural Analysis at Federico II University in Naples for about 40 years. He has also been involved in Building Restoration, and in 1992 founded the Centro Interdipartimentale di Ingegneria per i Beni Culturali (Interdepartmental Centre for Engineering for Cultural Heritage) at the same university. He founded, and is Chairman of, the Associazione Italiana di Storia dell'Ingegneria (Italian Society of History of Engineering). He edited the first text on engineering for cultural heritage, published by Edizioni del Mulino in 2018. He is author of about 170 academic publications.
