Conservation Collection's Critically Endangered books are a children's non-fiction series featuring an A to Z listing of critically endangered and endangered animals currently listed by the International Union for Conservation of Nature's Red List of Threatened Species. The books feature the common and scientific names of each species, where they are found, how many may be left in the world, full-colour illustrations and fun facts about each animal. The fourth and final book in this series, Conservation Collection's Critically Endangered: Invertebrates, highlights for young readers the often-forgotten species of the world. While not as cuddly as our mammals, these invertebrates dazzle with colour and their adaptations against the threats they face in the wild, and this book brings awareness to their plight and aims to inspire the next generation of entomologists, invertebrate researchers and conservationists. Travel across continents, from the forests to the ocean, to learn about the many threatened invertebrates around the world, and why we should care for all endangered species and their habitats. With much dedication and research undertaken for this A to Z book, Conservation Collection's Critically Endangered: Invertebrates hopes to present to young readers the importance of conserving and preserving our environment and the wildlife around us.
Autorenporträt
Hannah is based in New South Wales, Australia, and has many years of experience working with animals, both endangered and domestic species. This inspired her to produce a book series for children to assist in education about conservation. Hannah's special interest is to highlight species that may not be commonly recognised due to their critically endangered status or less-cuddly appearances.Hannah is qualified in Natural Science (Animal Science, Conservation Biology, Zoology) and her collaborative team are members of the veterinary, wildlife, and environmental conservation fields.Hannah and her team worked carefully in their research to be sure that all information is up to date and correct with the current International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List of Threatened Species. Despite this, the declining population rate of some species listed in this book at the time of publication could mean these species may already be extinct, however the hope is that with the help from ongoing conservation efforts, some populations will increase. The Conservation Collection Au Project was founded in 2017 and continues to develop its program.ABOUT THE ILLUSTRATOR:Illustrator Sophie Corso is an Adelaide-based artist with Honours in Visual Art from the University of South Australia. Sophie previously illustrated animal characters for A Ferret Named Phil and The Old Ferris Wheel (written by William Reimer). Sophie also created the stunning watercolour illustrations for Conservation Collection's previous three Critically Endangered books.
