Power is a critical infrastructure for the growth of Indian economy. Acceleration in the economic growth will depend upon a financially and commercially viable power sector. Rapid growth of the economy places a heavy demand on electric power. Reforms in the electric power sector, for making it efficient and more competitive, have been under way for several years and while there has been some progress, shortage of electric power and lack of access continue to be a major constraint on economic growth. Using the electricity whenever it is necessary and avoiding the wastage of electricity is called as conservation of electricity. This means doing simple things, such asturning off lights when you leave a room, as well as more involved processes, such as replacing standard light bulbs and appliances with those that use less electricity. While making these types of changes it may not notice much of an impact on our day-to-day life, but the environment impact will be much larger. In day to day life, electricity is considered as soul or the life without which the entire world remains dead.
