Conservation of natural resources has been an integral part of several indigenous communities in different parts of the world. Conservation of plants with medicinal and aromatic properties is done by the people of Manipur, India since time immemorial through nature worship, sacred groves, eating habits etc. These plants provide the people with medicinal benefits for good health and nature care. These crops are frequently forgotten in development work although having a real potential to contribute to sustainable food security and in healthcare. In this hour an urgent need for the preservation of plant genetic resources of promising as well as threatened types needs top priority.
