Myth: "a traditional or legendary story, usually concerning some being or hero or event, with or without a determinable basis of fact or a natural explanation, esp. one that is concerned with deities and explains some practice, rite, or phenomenon of nature." While this work cannot be called traditional and it remains to be seen whether it will be the stuff of legend, it is a compelling story about human beings that is definitely concerned with modern deities. It also explains multiple rites, practices and phenomenon of nature in a context that does not require you to believe, only to "consider". Written in the first person the book chronicles "the last five days of a 12 year old utopian experiment that was founded by a homeless man who was allowed to win the lottery." The two principle story tellers are a chronically underemployed baby boomer and a millionaire playboy auto mechanic turned politician. Together they weave this maverick's tale of how different and downright interesting life becomes when we look beyond the brand, allow the individual to break from the herd and consider the possibilities afforded merely by allocating resources someplace else.
