Guinea fowl meat has many nutritional qualities that make it healthy for consumption. The meat contains 134 calories per 100 grams. The meat which is lean is rich in essential fatty acids and amino acids. It contains 4% fat as against 7% of chicken. The carcass produces a relatively large amount of meat, with a dressing yield of 80% edible meat. Guinea fowl comes in different varieties distinguished by their plumage colour, ranging from pearl, grey to lavender, royal purple and blue, white and black.
