ELIN JOHNSON is a Master Gardener born and raised in East Tennessee. For 33 years she commuted an hour each way to her job at a large paper mill leaving her with little free time. She began gardening in earnest after her retirement, and during the next 20 years developed two gardens. One of her properties was a small lot on a steep hillside, divided into "garden rooms". It was mostly shady with mature trees and shrubs. Then she moved to a larger property with flat and sunny land. She now lives in a condo with a small garden in Knoxville, TN. She moved there with her favorite plants, hostas and daylilies.
