He hears not a word of what is told to him and spends the rest of the story struggling to identify the very mystery he is to solve! Luckily, the agent finds himself surrounded by a cast of extremely savvy supporting characters and, not unlike a "good" Hollywood producer, makes absolutely no bones about stealing their theories and ideas.
