The ongoing reading of Gustave Flaubert's novel "Madame Bovary" allows the formation of linguistic and sociolinguistic knowledge, as components of the communicative competence of the learners. The system, proposed in the manual, includes six groups of activities: Study of the text, Vocabulary exercises, Study of style, Reflection exercises, Research exercises, Creative activity exercises. These exercises provide an analysis of explicit and implicit information: either of different philosophical and psychological aspects of the novel, or of the activities of the characters, their conduct and their worldview. The students are asked to put themselves in the eventuality of the situation, to incarnate themselves in the role of the characters, to interpret them, to externalize the inner aspect of their personality with the authentic reproduction of their thoughts and feelings. This manual is intended for teachers and students of humanities faculties.
