The proliferation of the use of smartphones and the availability of high-speed broadband (HD) have boosted the massive use of Internet platforms and services in Africa. The continent stands out from the rest of the world not only because of the speed and spread of digital technologies, but also because of the specific symbols they bring. The aim of this article is to analyse the challenges and impacts of the digital economy on the sectors driving economic and social development in Africa. Consequently, the use of services provided by the digital revolution has a favourable impact on the sectoral spheres of activity: education, businesses and households. After descriptive analysis, we conclude and make a number of recommendations.
