The usual two-dimensional analyses of frames are done by considering the floor slab loads along with various other loads. However, the actual presence of the slab is ignored in the analytical models. The usual two-dimensional analyses of frames are done by considering the floor slab loads along with various other loads. However, the actual presence of the slab is ignored in the analytical models. So, the real behavior of concrete structures is altered. Thus, the present study is done to determine the contributions of floor slab in concrete frames in terms of horizontal deflection, vertical deflection and torsional deflection. Floor slabs are cast monolithically with beams so its presence can not be ignored. Rigid links are modeled to get the real effect. Computer analyses are rigorously done for various loading conditions. Three types of frames are studied, one with slab, another with out slab and the third one with flange considerations. Finally, it is concluded that the slabs actually contribute in resisting lateral, vertical and torsional deflections of buildings significantly.
