The book Contributions of Pronto Sorriso to the training of health professionals reports on changes in the lives of health professionals who have taken a course offered by the Faculty of Medicine at the Federal University of Goiás. The institution has been implementing curricular changes with projects that encompass new teaching methodologies and one of them is the Pronto Sorriso Free Core course. Núcleo livre is a set of contents that aims to give students the freedom to broaden their education. This project was inspired by the work carried out by the Doctors of Joy in the city of São Paulo and the ideas of the American Patch Adams (ADAMS, 1998). Its aim is to broaden the training of health academics in a holistic way, to ease the pain and discomfort of hospital treatment, favoring faster recovery and contributing to the development of humanistic skills in professionals. Health professionals are generally trained to deal with standards of normality and abnormality, but find it difficult to promote people's health in a humanized way.
