Diabetes: the third most deadly disease in the world. It is a chronic disease that occurs either when the pancreas does not produce enough insulin or when the body cannot effectively use the insulin it produces. Insulin is a hormone that regulates blood sugar. Although treatment optons using modern synthetic medicines are available, but owing to the severe complications at the later stages coupled with the adverse effects and resistance of such drugs, it is imperative to control diabetes at the early stage using natural products. The present book is a research based compilation of few of such types of medicinal plants reported for their traditional use for the control of diabetes. In the study, the [harmacognostic and physicochemical analysis were carried out to confirm the identification of the plant parts. Qualitative and quantitative phytochemical studies were performed to identify and quantify the main chemical constituents. Further, pharmacological studies were performed to ascertain their antidiabetic efficacy. Hence, the plants studied can be included in the modern systems of medicine for the effective and safe management of diabetes.
